2009 AUDI Q7 S-LINE

OUR FIRST FORAY INTO THE WORLD OF QUATTRO PERFORMANCE
Back in 2009, my wife and I were driving a couple of RWD sedans. I had a 2006 Cadillac STS-V and she had a brand new 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. Both were awesome cars, but highly impractical for year-round use in our neck of the woods. We had been living overseas for many years and we forgot how brutal the winter driving conditions can be in Canada.  So, the hunt for an AWD vehicle began. We cross-shopped a number of SUV's including the BMW X5 and Mercedes Benz M-Class, but the Audi Q7 captured our hearts. We purchased this Q7 off the lot and it was a dream to own and operate until we decided to switch to the SQ5. The Q7 served our family well for four years. It went to another lucky family with less than 60,000 km on the clock. The new owners live in our neighborhood so I see it on the road periodically. It still holds its own in the looks department in the ever-expanding sea of luxury SUV's.

S-LINE PACKAGE

This Q7 was sitting on the lot when my wife and I visited the local dealership. We were immediately smitten by the striking Garnet Red Pearl paint. This Q7 was equipped with the sporty S-Line appearance package which included 20" wheels and a few cosmetic body enhancements. While it was a large SUV, it had a sporty feel and it really looked the part.

WHEELS & TIRES

The Q7 came equipped with 20" 5-spoke alloys, which I wrapped with Bridgestone winter tires. I purchased a set of 22" black Cayenne-style replica wheels which contrasted nicely with the red paint. I think I had 285/35 Yokohama Parada X's on there, but don't quote me on that. Those two wheel setups served me well during the four years I owned it.

PERFORMANCE

In 2010, Audi changed up the engine options on us. They moved away from the 3.6 V6 and 4.2 V8, and launched two versions of the 3.0T. I was never enamored with the 3.6. I felt is was adequate, but I yearned for more punch. At the time, the 4.2 was a significant financial step up, so we went the V6 route. The move to the 3.0T in the SQ5 was a satisfying one.
